It takes a VILLAGE...

Parenthood was never meant to be done alone.

In collaboration with Bank of Valletta and Kunsill Lokali Naxxar, MyMama are excited to announce this FREE, community-based project that brings parents together around a simple but powerful idea: it takes a village to raise a child, and parents need community just as much as children do.

THE PARENT SPACE is built to foster a genuine sense of belonging among new parents, helping them feel supported and less isolated as they navigate early parenthood.

What is THE PARENT SPACE?

THE PARENT SPACE is a small-group, facilitated weekly meet-up designed to strengthen connection and belonging among parents in the early years.

At its heart, this project is about rebuilding the village many parents are missing. Through the meet-ups new mums and dads have the opportunity to get to know one another, share the realities of parenthood, and realise they are not alone in what they are feeling or experiencing.

Sessions are faciliated by MyMama early-childhood expert Christina Gauci.

Once a month, a guest expert in the field of baby's health & development or parental wellbeing facilitates the session, discusses parents' concerns and answers any questions.

Conversation flows gently and organically, often touching on the transition to parenthood, birth experiences, feeding, sleep, identity shifts, work worries and the invisible mental load that so many parents carry.

There is no pressure to talk, no expectation to share more than you want to, and no judgement. Come as you are - babies are welcome!

Who is it for?

THE PARENT SPACE is open to parents of babies and young children 0-18 months who are navigating the early stages of family life.

It is especially supportive for mums and dads who:

  • Want to build new connections in a friendly space
  • Are new to parenting or new to the locality of Naxxar
  • Are seeking a relatable, parent-to-parent form of support

You do not need to be struggling to attend. You simply need to be a parent who values connection and community!

What happens during THE PARENT SPACE meet-ups?

Weekly meet-ups are facilitated by a trained professional and follow a gentle, predictable structure so parents feel safe and at ease.

A typical session includes:

  • A warm welcome (and a warm cup of tea or coffee) and check-in
  • Open, guided conversation around shared themes
  • Space for peer support and listening
  • Time to connect informally with other parents

There is no obligation to contribute verbally. You are free to engage at your own pace.

Community-based + local

THE PARENT SPACE is a community project with limited places in each group to ensure a safe, intimate environment.

Meet-ups take place at various public spaces around Naxxar, facilitated by Kunsill Lokali Naxxar, as well as at the MyMama Hub and at My Favourite Things, one of the project’s sponsors.

Think playground meet-ups and stroller walks for sunny days, and cosy coffee circles for cooler weather!

Project partners

THE PARENT SPACE is made possible thanks to the support of Bank of Valletta and Kunsill Lokali Naxxar. Their contribution plays a key role in keeping these meet-ups free and accessible to parents in the community, allowing families to benefit from connection and support without financial barriers. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening local communities and supporting parents in the early years.
