Prepare your mind and body for birth with our CALM & CONFIDENT BIRTH WORKSHOP.
Many expectant parents move through pregnancy carrying a quiet mix of excitement and worry. Thoughts about labour, pain, loss of control or âwhat ifsâ can creep in, often fuelled by well-meaning stories, dramatic TV scenes and outdated narratives around birth. Even with excellent medical care, many couples feel underprepared for the emotional and mental side of giving birth.
Whatâs often missed is the role the mind plays in how the body works during labour. When fear and tension are present, the body responds differently. When calm, confidence and understanding take the lead, birth can unfold in a far more positive and empowering way.
Together with Nadège Buhagiar - midwife and certified KG Hypnobirthing instructor, we invite you to our CALM & CONFIDENT BIRTH WORKSHOP. This in-depth, face-to-face session is designed to help expectant parents feel informed, grounded and supported as they prepare for birth, whatever that birth may look like.
Join us for this exclusive workshop at the MyMama hub, Naxxar on Saturday 24th January 2026 16:00 - 19:00 CET.
LEARN MORE
Here's what we'll cover:
-
Introduction to KG Hypnobirthing - We explore what hypnobirthing really is and where it comes from. Weâll look at the power of language, why words like âsurgeâ can feel very different to âcontractionâ. The focus throughout is on eliminating fear and assumptions, with the ultimate goal of a positive pregnancy and birth experience.
-
Welcoming sceptical thoughts - Nadège will share real birth stories, and discuss how hypnobirthing is for all women, not just those with straightforward pregnancies or textbook births.
-
The Ice Breaker Chart -Â Couples will be guided through an exercise that allows space for fears to be acknowledged and gently worked through. This helps create realistic expectations around birth, and encourages open conversations between partners.
-
The Mind -Â Where the mind leads, the body follows. Weâll explore the conscious and unconscious mind using the Iceberg Analogy, and look at how negative suggestions can easily slip in. Youâll discover why the mind doesnât respond well to âdonâtâ statements and how this understanding can be used positively during labour.
-
Positive Birth Statements exercise -Â A guided coupleâs exercise to help reframe thoughts around birth, strengthen confidence and create positive mental associations that can be revisited during labour.
-
âUpâ breathing technique -Â Learn when and how to use up breathing, with a clear demonstration and time to practise together.Â
-
Relaxation scripts -Â Understand (and practice) how relaxation scripts support breathing, create helpful mental links, encourage touch and enhance partner involvement.Â
-
The physiology of birth -Â A clear, accessible explanation of how the uterus works, the role of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, and the fear-tension-pain cycle. Weâll also discuss ways to support labour naturally.
- Positions for labour and birth -Â Weâll explore evidence-based positions and how the body instinctively knows what to do. Practical exercises include a squatting activity to feel pelvic space increase, and a back-stroking exercise to support relaxation.Â
- Sssoften relaxation -Â A gentle closing relaxation.Â
