MATERNAL REFLEXOLOGY & ACUPRESSURE
Ease stress in the last few days of pregnancy, and naturally stimulate the onset of labour...
Maternal Reflexology and Acupressure can be performed from 38 weeks gestation onwards.
During a typical reflexology massage, reflex points on the foot are subjected to gentle pressure, rubbing or rolling on the reflex point. Each of these points is said to be connected to a specific part of the body, including internal organs. The aim of the therapy is to reduce stress while easing minor complaints. After 38 weeks gestation, maternal reflexology techniques will help the expecting mother in her late pregnancy to stimulate the uterus and ovary reflexes, as well as the production of oxytocin to help bring on natural labour. This helps the cervix to soften and uterus to start contracting.
In combination with reflexology, this session includes acupressure - this is an needle free therapy, applying manual pressure to specific points on the body. This is done by the use finger tips instead of needles. Acupressure is safe and it helps to relive pain and stress, lessens anxiety and improves sleep and other pregnancy discomfort. Moreover it promotes relaxation and naturally helps stimulate the onset of labour.
